Spaghetti Dinner 2011

On April 3rd we attended the Sacred Heart Parish of Glyndon’s 39th annual spaghetti dinner. The dinner included spaghetti and meatballs, Italian bread, salad, condiments and beverage. Over 200 volunteers come together for the food preparation and serving duties every year. Relaxing Italian music was provided by local musicians all afternoon. The food preparation began early in the day by volunteers who cook 150 gallons of sauce, 220 pounds of ground beef, 50 pounds of Italian sausage, and about 250 pounds of spaghetti. One highlight of the day was meeting Rose’s newest member of her family, great grandchild, Maria. It was a great day of food, family and fun!

Springtime 2011

Springtime Crafts with Anita 2011

Anita and Marge (Activity Leaders at Angel’s Touch) spent the morning instructing some of our residents in a craft activity. The final product was a wonderful springtime card made with their own hands. The residents enjoyed the challenge of outlining, glueing, and manipulating paper and ribbon to produce a springtime card that had a bird with a very large beak. Some of the residents, like Charles, just enjoyed sitting in the room and watching all the activity.

Ice Cream Social 2011

Our annual “Ice Cream Social” event includes the whole family. The event started with Mark giving a brief history of Ice Cream. This year we enjoyed, in addition to our ice cream creations, the melodies of the barbershop quartet “The Maryland Express.” Songs such as Sweet Adeline, My Wild Irish Rose, Let Me Call You Sweetheart, You’re a Grand Ole Flag, and many many more were performed by the group. Our residents clapped and sang along as they enjoyed their ice cream. One highlight of the day were the photos of yesteryears of some of the residents. Mark displayed them on the large screen for everyone to guess who it was. It was great day for all!
